Visit Trawsfynydd for a fantastic cycling experience around the stunning lake!
Gwynedd Council along with partners from Natural Resources Wales have undertaken a £405,000
EU - ERDF project to complete a cycle loop around the lake set that opened on the 13th of June.
Along with cycling facilities also available in Blaenau Ffestiniog and nearby Coed y Brenin this trail around the lake will add to the area's amazing cycling provision. The loop measures a total of 8miles.
You can start the loop from either Trawsfynydd itself, or at the new Lake Centre. As you go along the route you will get a first eye view of the Lake itself and the beautiful nature around the area.
There is one steep part on the trail which goes for around 400meters about 600 meters form the main dam. It is a bit of challenge for the inexperienced riders and we do suggest that if you do start to struggle on the climb to come off your bike and push. But it is worth going to the top just so that you can see the views!!!
A map of the trail can be downloaded below.

Remember once you pass the Power Station towards the main dam you should not follow the national cycle route 82 towards Gelliydan to go around the Lake. You need to keep going straight!
It is now possible to hire bikes from the centre - for more information follow the link below:
